We recommend using public transport: The closest airports are Milano-Bergamo (Ryanair) or Milano. There are train connections to Brusio (CH) via Tirano (IT) which take approximately 2:45 hours. Exit the train (UNESCO World Heritage Bernina route) at Brusio station and take the PostCar from Brusio to Viano. From Viano it is about a 2 hours trek to San Romerio. The Rifugio can only be reached by foot. Optionally, the PostCar takes you from Viano up to Piaz (extra charge of CHF 10), from there the walking distance to San Romerio is about 25 minutes. The PostCar is to be ordered up to 1 hour before the desired departure time on the toll free number +41 800 126 126. It runsbetween 8 am and 6 pm. Arriving by car (from northwards): Drive past the lake Poschiavo (Miralago) and follow the main road until you reach the first junction and go left direction Viano (before entering the village of Brusio). After 300 m turn right direction Viano. Before reaching the village of Viano follow (right) the detour and drive all the way around the village, then follow the yellow signs to Alpe San Romerio until you reach a small natural parking lot called "Piaz". From there driving through is not allowd as our Rifugio is located in the middle of a nature protection area. It is only a 25 minutes walk from Piaz. PLEASE NOTE: The mountain road to Piaz is a single-tracked and very much winding road.

We are an alpin mountain pasture and guesthouse in the middle of untouched nature, surrounded by meadows and forests with a unique view of the Bernina mountain range and down to Valtellina valley. Our Rifugio is spectacularly located on a natural terrace at 1.800 m above sea level and 800 m above the lake Poschiavo.
Since we are located in a natural basin, we are protected from northern winds and weather trends: we are dominated by a mild Mediterranean climate. In summer we have 12 hours of sun a day and unusual long sunsets.
You will find an informal atmosphere in a fantastic landscape inbetween tradition, history and inspiring nature. Enjoy the warmth of the sun rays until the evening comes and recharge your batteries in this endless silence. San Romerio is an ideal starting point for mountain hikes or excursions throughout the Valposchiavo valley. Our outdoor yoga platform just above the guesthouse invites you to meditating or following your practice at a very remote spot.
For your well-being, our guesthouse was only built of natural building materials such as wood or rock. We will be happy to welcome you, spending a few nights in one of our guest rooms or dormitory beds. All rooms are non-smoking rooms with a wooden floor. Modern bathroom facilities with running hot water as well as shower and WC are to be shared. Our small restaurant offers local specialties, such as the delicious alpine herdsman‘s polenta or fresh salads from our gardens.
We cater for events up to 80 people and provide 41 beds. The remote location in the middle nature offers an inspiring surrounding for team breakouts or workshops. We provide natural creative materials, paper, pens, a projector and a simple indoor workshop room.
